The Language of Grief: Take 2

It took two takes and overcoming connection issues, but we made it happen. I'm happy to share a few highlights from a great conversation.

In exploring the “Language of Grief” our conversation covered how what we say and what we don’t can greatly impact our healing journey.

1. The word grief applies to all types of loss.

2. “Joy comes in the morning”- How some words help us

Besides the scripture, there were no particular books that she turned to, but she added her mother’s words and her own writings were part of what helped her in her healing journey.

3. Not everyone uses words

She expands on this idea by noting that we have to notice when someone we love is “acting out” and find ways to support and comfort them.

4. Leading someone to scripture won’t always work, but leading with love will.

5. What helped…

Nina Hill is a mother, grandmother, community leader, author and ordained minister who lives in Central Florida. She is twice widowed but remains a source of inspiration and support for many. She is also the current president of the Osceola County branch of the NAACP.
